Is a new variable vane turbo worth doing?

Hi .. I'm interested on some opinions from people who have a variable turbo fitted to a 2.4 puma. Is it worth it and do you get a noticeable difference in performance? My 110 has a remap from Pete at BAS, an Allisport intercooler with pipes and I've removed the centre silencer. Am it going to get a big increase in power with a variable vane turbo and if so, which one?

I'm still running a standard turbo. Interested in whether I'm could get a significant performance improvement with a hybrid turbo.

(My turbo also whistles like mad so I'm justifying the expense that way

I believe the only way to max it, is with a bigger turbo. I would imagine the difference between max on standard and the max on a larger vv would be substantial.

I also suspect there will a price to pay ie very low end torq although being vv this should be relatively minor and if you're looking for max power you probably use more revs than myself and it probably won't be an issue for you.

Hi

The hybrid turbo is designed to give with a remap nearly 50nm more torque, it does also give a bhp gain as well.

Its main role is to widen the currewnt torque curve making the car more drivable in the wrong or to high gear as well as giving a subtle gain on top of the already remapped car.

Q: Will it give as much gain again as the standard car gave with just a remap and cooler added ?
A: No the most power comes from the initial remap, intercooler and air intake mods.
