Do you have access to any fault code reader?
Also, check your oil level? Some vague part of me wants to say oil in fuel? Edit: I'm no expert, just have a vague recollection of something about oil in diesel and power increase and blue smoke??? Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Bluey whiteish smoke on cold start seems to be a fairly common TDCi feature. I don't think it is anything that should cause too much concern.

thanks for the replies guys. I checked oil thethe other day and it has moved 2mm in last 2000 mile. The blue smoke smells rich like to much fuel. But I'm no expert on this. Also the smoke will go when I set off and then the surge in power will come. I can't get codes any unless I take it in to garage some were thanks for getting back every 1 think this is how I get back to every on just joined this site ha |

Mine definitely doesn't give blue smoke or surge, unless I start it without the glow plugs on a cold day (still doesn't affect feel or noise, just a puff of blue smoke) Cheers, David

It may be worth borrowing or otherwise acquiring a simple fault code reader. I've got a bluetooth one (eBay search bluetooth obd) which works with any one of a number of (often free) smartphone apps.
It should at least let you know if there are any trouble codes recorded. Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Hello, ive just been tinkering with my friend who has a fault finder and we plugged it in and it came up with no faults. I also pulled off the oil breather pipe from the air box and checked for Any oil. There was a little on the side of the pipe going to top of engine. I was thinking of taking her for a drive with the breather pipe disconnected would that do damage to anything? Or is that a no no guys.
