carpeting the load space
can anyone recommend what type of carpet/adhesive would work well to carpet the rear load space/arches/sides below the window trims?

My carpets are a mess and I'm happy to do the cutting/sticking myself but don't know what type of carpet etc to get? Ideally quite resistant and maybe even 'waterproof' or something?

and a good supplier...? Cheers, David

decided to get 2x 1.9x1.6m pieces off ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Scree-Late...1350970468

and some of their spray adhesive too. Hopefully should be able to do a good job of it Smile

will feedback on whether its good or not but sounds decent. Fine weave, complete with backing etc... Cheers, David

Good to hear.

the previous owner of my 110 had dogs which appear to have ripped the carpet in the back to shreds, and it doesn't stick down well either. Will be nice to get it all finished to a good standard, and going to do the bits above the arches and below the window trims which is currently bare metal so should create a more continuous feel in the back and maybe a bit of noise absorption. Cheers, David

I did mine and used copydex which sticks really well but has an awful smell, luckily the backs up most the time and its gone now.
I used some genuine land rover carpet material as had some left over from a project
(I bought it from a mate so don't no where it came from sorry)
As for the noise reduction it did...... ...... Nothing Laughing
Still looks a lot better than bare ply lining. You'll probably find the noise is a bit better in a civilized hard top though Wink Defender puma dormobile camper

Yeah I'm not expecting much in the noise dept, just hoping to tidy up the back and protect a few bits of bare metal from bikes/dogs etc...

And Tom, I imagine cutting the roof off may limit the noise reductions that are possible Wink Cheers, David

If you use a good quality wool carpet - it will look great, feel great, usually have good sound deadening qualities - but quickly smell awful if it gets damp/wet.

Cheaper synthetic fibred carpets are less likely to rot and smell if they get damp/wet.

If you can get your hands on an off-cut of a contract quality carpet from a commercial refurbishment job (like a hotel) - it might just do the business for you - as long as it doesn't have a company logo woven into it.

I know it ramps up cost a LOT but have you thought about soundproofing first?
Only mentioning because you mention sound deadening, if you glue down the carpet and want to soundproof at a later date the job would be much more difficult.
Just an idea. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

I did give it brief thought, but I don't see the point really. Maybe at some point I'll spend hundreds getting the whole thing fully soundproofed but I think it's fine for now.. Just turn the radio up!

In my head I imagine I can do a good job with carpet, a Stanley knife and some adhesive but we shall see! Cheers, David

I used cattle/horse rubber matting. Good sound deadening and insulation qualities. Easy to clean as well

I got some last week from carpetwise, it's black ribbed and only 3 a sq mtr, I'll take a photo of it tomorrow. My plan is to fit it this weekend. I got some carpet spray glue from B&Q Thumbs Up 2007 Defender Puma Tonga Green
