Jesus, that little vid is a complete waste of time, isn't it? Why do companies (especially Land Rover) think that's good? It's a minute out of your life you won't get back, tells you nothing, and makes you wonder why some people are paid good money to produce nonsense like that.

I like the Evoque, I like the DC100, and I can't wait to see LR's entry-level vehicle when it arrives...because there will be one, you know? So show a snippet of a wing, a rear light, a snatch of a centre console. But don't show us NASA film with silly graphics, for crying out loud! Now left.

i agree on that... like the overall shape though, looks purposeful and boot/extra seats area looks large & practical. Cheers, David

Buying a car used to be so simple. Within a couple of years we'll have a Mini Disco, Normal Disco, Maxi Disco, Coupe Disco, Gran Coupe Disco (probably 4 instead of 2 doors you know...), Open top Disco, etc.
Same probably goes with the Freelander, Defender, and the they might as well make the Evoque a brand on its own. They'll end up with 60 different base models which will have endless configuration options and they will all share just 2-3 platforms?
I'm getting too old for this s...

Yes, but what I'm getting from reading around on the net is that there will indeed be a 'family' of vehicles, as the video hints at. The new Freelander is about to become a member of the Discovery 'family'. Now, will they drop the Freelander name? Or, will the entry-level car (a version of the DC100) also be part of the 'family'? Like there is a Range Rover and a Range Rover Sport, I'm thinking there's going to be a Discovery 'set'. And I'm afraid, horror of horrors, that I can't see the Defender fitting in with this, and LR's rather upmarket image (as I say on another part of this forum). The Defender, as we know it, is dead. I'm pretty sure of that. Of course, (my wife would say, "for once") I hope I'm proved wrong. The drop of the Freelander name is interesting. Either they don't like it or they are going to use it on an entry-level car that isn't actually part of the Discovery 'family'. Now left.

yeah there'll be 'RANGE ROVER' 'DISCOVERY' and 'DEFENDER' ranges, each with 3 or so cars in.

makes sense i think. More cars = more choice and more chance that a buyer will find the car he wants from LR.

similar to how BMW and alike have hundreds of models now (1 series, 1 series coupe, X1, 1 series M, 3 series, M3, M4, M5, 5 series, 6 series, 6 series coupe, M6, X5, X3, X6 etc etc.. could go on forever!)

means you are more likely to get a car that suits rather than being forced to choose between 4/5 cars if you decide you want a land rover. Cheers, David

That is true. I would love to see a range of Defenders, so we all get what we want, but I can't see it coming. Hope you're right, David. Now left.

Yeah I'm actually quite excited! It's already been reported the there will be a pickup version as well as the usual '90' and '110' versions...

^^The current Freelander is being moved into the new Discovery range yes, but it won't be the current FL2 though. An engine to TDi for!

Nidge, skip Starbucks! Mr. Green

Got me curious now, is Land Rover as a brand going to disappear?

^^I shouldn't think so at all. It will just become more defined into three clear sections. An engine to TDi for!

Three? So you believe that there will be the RRs, the Discovery family AND a Defender set too? I just get the feeling that there will be a DC100 - as part of the Discovery family, but the utility Defender dropped. Surely a rough & ready 'Defender' won't suit LR's new upmarket image. Now left.

there'll definitely be 3 lines.

I think land rover can just keep adding too. For example a Range Rover Sport RS is on the cards in that category, also a Discovery 'luxury' or 'plus' as well as the freelander (disco sport?) and 'standard' sized discovery in the leisure.

I also think there will be a sub-evoque/freelander sized vehicle to compete with the yeti 4x4/tiguan/countryman etc - this will be important as it will stop the defender being the 'cheap' land rover and so should keep the defender-buying clientelle somewhat more 'educated' in the defender field rather than school mums.

And then probably 3/4 defenders (hi cap pickup, dcpu, 3dr and 5dr at least...)

 Cheers, David
