England 2010 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Stornoway Grey
The saga continues
Stalled again this morning, then wouldn't start. Eventually got it going after leaving it for 10 minutes.

Got to work.

Go out at lunch - not starting again Banging Head

Phone LRA, man arrives and at least its still not working when he arrived this time.

"Sounds like it out of fuel" he says,

"the gauge is at 3/4" I say, so he goes off looking for blockages, leaks, water in fuel, etc. all without luck.

Then he checks the relays under the seat, "the main power relay is loose" he says,

"it has been checked by LRA at least 3 times before and each time was OK" I say,

"no definitely the relay connections were loose, I've tightened them up and it won't cause you any more trouble" he says, "this is the third one today!".

So now I'm waiting ... Barney

Sounds as though that would be it Barney, if your LRA was so adamant that was the culprit.

Fingers crossed for you.

I have found that using the defender during trips longer than 1 hr bring the problem out. In town up and down it never cut out or very few times

It was a loose connection on the main power relay located under the drivers seat.

What alerted the LRA man was that the temperature gauge went right up to the max - I hadn't spotted it.

Tighten up all the crimps on the relay and it should solve the problem.

Good luck. Barney
