It's only as expensive as you make it, a round or two claybusting at your local ground won't break the bank nor will gaining permission to shoot vermin over farmland. Book a day at a high end driven shoot is going to require deeper pockets.
Buy good gear and it will serve you well, don't get sucked into buying all the latest fads and fancies. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

I will not have a gun I live on a country estate I work my dogs on a shoot but am appalled by poor so called sports men and at the cowards that hide behind guns. If you Can't kill it with your hands leave it be! I get to despatch more birds through bad shooting than I would like and I always apologise to the bird.

Each to there own! but if you dont agree with the Sport why have sporting dogs and put them to work in that type of job and release birds that you know may only be clipped by the shot and get paid to do this job? Just asking and not meaning to cause trouble im just interested thats all Last edited by Defender-Stu on 1st Mar 2014 3:12pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I would like to think that the majority of people who participate in field sport of all varieties have a healthy respect for their intended quarry and endeavour to dispatch it as swifty as possible, to the extent where they pay pickers up to recover and dispatch any wounded birds.
If there were to be an after life I would much prefer to take my chances as a game bird rather than a "farmed animal" or worse chicken, at least as a game bird I would have experienced the open air and a degree of freedom. I wish you well in your enjoyment of picking up at the local shoot I'm sure you get a great deal of pleasure in working your dogs, they in turn will no doubt relish in the anticipation of a great day out on a shoot morning, and if by chance our paths cross me perhaps as a wounded pheasant brought to your hand a comforting apology will suffice. Regards DRW I built a garage for my Mini With a place for everything and everthing in its place. Ten years down the line there's a Mini in there somewhere, and all's where it should be!!!! Ho hum |
