I managed to get my phone mounted on that angled surface without bending that stalk. I used a cheap windscreen phone mount from Tesco which the suction mount arm can be taken off then superglued the mount to the dash (I did use No Nails tape but going over bumps etc meant it fell off). The stalk clears when indicating even when full beam on. There is a photo in my gallery. 2007 (57) Defender 90 (Sold)
Looking for another to replace it. The road less travelled.... is a muddy one! |

The horn won't work if you bend it.
....or, actually, it will work non stop. |

My eldest(autistic) son bent mine not long after I bought the motor, I had to straighten it out as when full beam was on it hit the spokes on the steering wheel. That was 4 years ago and it still works, if you try, be gentle.

I had to bend mine as I bought a sh*tpart replacement. Why they don't just make parts to fit, rather than lose another customer, I don't know. It fouled the dash when on full beam. I held it in some grips and bent it with some more grips. You can't have enough grips in a tool box!

Not a Puma but I've deliberately bent both the windscreen wiper stalk and indicator stalk on my Td5.
I'm 6'4 and the knees got in the way. Everything still works fine. Trick seems to be two pairs of grips and make sure it's the metal bending and you're not stressing anything else. Maybe moved them 1/2 an inch each? Enough anyway. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop Now a 2013 110 USW too. |

Bent both of mine on Td5, and this weekend on my Tdci so they are better placed for my steering wheel. Just be sensible and all will be ok

Ok, big thank you for the responses.
Looks like an 80% chance of success with bending. Thanks josh for your input and picture, looks like an iPod. I want some angular adjustment to avoid reflections and I don't want any falling off issues with my Nokia 1520. Will post back when done. |

Bend by holding the metal stalk in both hands, so you don't damage switch inside cowl, or to snap off plastic end.
