What Jack do you use?

Hello All,

Can I ask what type of Jack do you use?

I want a Jack, to use principally at home, for general maintenance work.

My first thought was to consider a Hi Lift Jack with a Jacking Adaptor for the Defender,
your opinions on this or similar would be of interest...

I have seen what looks to be a very nice bit a of kit, the BOS Jack LV01
This is a professional hydraulic lift Jack, ('race' teams etc)
has anyone had experience of this?

Just buy a decent trolley jack. A well proven solution that won't break the bank

Trolley jack or bottle jack depending on what needs doing.

I like the speed of the trolley jack, but the compactness of the bottle makes it easier to use in more restricted spaces (like if the wife's got her car on the drive too).

Don't forget decent axle stands for once you've jacked it up...!

I carry a Discovery type bottle jack with the U shaped top in the truck - bought it off ebay for £30.

Also have a trolley jack I bought from MachineMart for doing stuff at home.

4 ton bottle jack in the car,and a 10 ton + in the shed,as said you need axle stands with bottle jacks. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

To be honest you can't really beat the LR bottle jack, it really is fit for purpose and easy enough to use. I do also have a small trolley jack in the back, I sometimes do work on normal cars and it goes under them. I also have a 10t bottle jack as I also get called on to do jobs on heavier stuff as well

I couldn't reccomend any other jack for all types of use other than the LR one.

I have seen the bottle jack from Mercedes Sprinter vans used on Defender - they also have the U shaped top - they come up on ebay from time to time.

Hi lift jack for me, used on the tree sliders and a small trolley jack to take the axle weight if necessary, depending what I'm doing.
Axle stands go without saying.

ive got an old 2 tonne trolley thats seen better days!gonna get myself a 2.5t from halfords, got a better reach, and always carry one axle stand in the boot too! My 109 thread

depends on the task and where I am ...

around the garage a trolley jack or HiLift for changing wheels (+ stands)

out and about, either bottle jack or hi-Lift .. I'd quite like an airbag jack but heard mixed reviews
