Did 46k on bfg mt. I think they are great and recommend them. They are worth the extra money and you should never skimp on your tyres.

Cheers for the replies. It took me months to decide on the duratracs and now have to start again! I had BFG and loved them to be honest just scared me sometimes in the wet. I do want a slightly more capable tyre than the previous for weekend play days but to be honest most of the work will now be weekend camping / overlanding (more as the lad grows up) so high motorway with some laneing at the end.

I know unbiased is not possible but I am encouraged by the cooper comments. So thinking coopers but probably change my mind 10 times before I order anything!

Question 2 is what size Laughing

I have seen the remoulds for sale,They may look the same but they won,t have BFG,s quality or longevity unfortunately. Had Trac Edge on my 90 Td and loved them they were as good (or better) as a mud terrain but with good road manners, quiet too, well as much as you can tell in a old Td ! 2005 Td5 90 XS

I really do think the bfg are better in the wet than the continental cross I had on my last 90. Also found the bfg brilliant in the snow and the continental rubbish.

Hi .. I would have a chat to Silverline Wheels in Warwick (http://www.silverlinewheels-tyres.com)

I bought a set of twisted alloys with BFGs on them and have had a load of trouble getting them balanced properly. I ended up going to Silverline Wheels in Warwick (who supply rims to twisted I believe) and got them taken off the rims, reseated and balanced properly. During my visit I got into a long chat about tyres which was really informative. Long and short of it is that the BFGs are very old technology due to a lack of research and development, whereas the Coopers are much more advanced with regards to design and therefore are easier to balance and generally perform much better.

I'd give them a call for some advice .. I know I'll be trying the Coopers next time round .. Which could be a while based on driving 10k on the BFGs and still having the bobbles on them! 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X

Goodyear Duratrac's are the best tyre I've used, I've tried BFG A/T's and they are great for longevity but I didn't rate them as highly as as the Duratrac's, I've got 265/75/16's on at the moment and they're quiet, chunky looking, good in mud, snow and in all weathers so far. 10/10

I know, I was more reinforcing the Cooper part (ie that they are a good manufacturer), rather than the STT

+1 as all round tyre (although is was designated an 80%/20% - off road/on road).

BFG AT wear very well, but last time I had them (about 10 years ago) I didn't think they were good on road or off road, wet braking was awful! The track edge was far better all round!

Mind you anything is better than the standard Continental Cross Contact AT, now on the Defender!!!

Mark.

That's 1 reason why I am trying the nokians the BFGs where great for wear but in the wet & snow they where iffy with a loaded 130 Neutral
