I get a similar thing on my 300! Mine happens when I'm coming to a standstill and I dip the clutch. Start getting a knocking. Sounds like my golf when DMF let go!
Thing is my 300 has recently had clutch hd fork etc etc done! My 109 thread my youtube channel |

It sound like the problem I had with my 300. It turned out to be the rear stub axels were shot, one locked solid that's the only reason I found out what the banging was. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

How about checking the hand brake, shoes locking onto drum and the cable has started to fray and not releasing fully. This was the problem my boy had on his 90.

What he said........ My guess is hand brake sticking on,
Very very common problem, oil seal goes and allows oil into Drum which over time turns to a lovely goooooiey grease That causes shoes to stick to drum. Have fun be happy |

hmm.. handbrake could be an issue, it feels like it is coming from immediately under the seats, so that would be about right for handbrake.
Will need to have a look. |

Check the engine/gearbox mounts too while you're under there.
