That was brilliant. Tosh but brilliant. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I hope the rest of the series is better than episode 1. I thought it was a crock of tonight.

I think they go too far sometimes, the bit at the end with the police dragged on for far too long, a couple of pretty girls close to the front of the audience ... as usual, the only bits that made me laugh were when the nova was on it's side in the supermarket sweep and the stupid memories of musical chairs and memories of 'the olden days' of the 80's. I owned a Capri and an XR2 so I'm guilty as charged!

It was brilllllllllllll.
When Hammond turned up in that nova my whole apprentice time at Vauxhalls came flooding back and all the stolen recovery repairs we did . what a great little car it is, my first girl friend had a exact same nova gsi as her first new car at 18 years old, which after less than 1 year in her hands the engine made the exact same noise |

The comment in our house was "beyond puerile". There was nothing about cars other than a picture of a new Lexus on the TV screen during the 'news' section. If that set the tone for this series then I shall use my previous technique of recording it and fast forwarding through all the slapstick and just watch any stuff about cars that I can spot.
(Okay, I did laugh at the Nova on its side) |

i think top gear do a great job of making motoring interesting for the masses. yes they have their silly episodes (like yesterday, the demolition one, the skiing ones etc) but they also make some pretty good factual/road test ones too. think of their US road trip in the lexus LFA/Viper/Aston among other 3 way showdowns, and i reallllllly enjoyed the bolivia special among others..
I've really enjoyed their more traditional tests of the Disco3, new RR and RRS, the F-types, Mclaren MP4-12C, evoque, Mercedes SLS electric etc etc in recent years.. looking forward to seeing the McLaren P1 too! and hopefully a good piece (tribute?) on the Defender, especially since we know how big a fan Hammond is. but the best clip I've seen of top gear had to be the 'best of british' bit at the end of the last series, glad someone's finally saying something good about our fantastic country rather than just jumping on the doom-mongering bandwagon keep it up, chaps! Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |
