Evoque Off-Road
Before today, I'd never driven a Range Rover Evoque, actually I'd never even sat in one. But today, I went off roading in one!
WOW! It performed flawlessly! I must admit, I had very low expectations for it, and as custom90Steve said to me "You'll need some luck mate!" On the tarmac, it was smooth, quiet and surprisingly spacious. And off the beaten track it just pulled through everything! The auto box was fantastic, and it coped with river crossings, hill climbs (very steep!), hill descents and rough ground with ease! I even think my Defender might have struggled with some of it!

So, Mr Evoque, I take my hat off to you, you're a bloody great car!

"Made JLR Millions"?...Ain't that the truth,.....I think they sold over 100,000 in their first year, I don't know the current figure, 120,000 was the last I heard,...a bit more than Defender's 16,000. However I reckon the last 2 years for Defender will show an increase.
Haven't driven an Evoque, but by all account's they're brilliant,....a motoring magazine over hear picked the petrol turbo engine as the best. This year's model has a 9 speed auto.
There are quite a few of them on the road here.
Cheers, Pickles.

I think the Evoque is great but just can't get my head round the look of it at the back and the footballers wives that are all driving them

I had one for a week whilst the defender was in for a warranty job. Not bad at all but no one lets you out of junctions!! Darren

I love mine! I agree that the back is unfinished........apart from the Dynamic which is why I opted for it, the Coupe at that.

I took it very mildly off-roading in the Peaks a few weeks back, just a track that looped around for a few hundred metres. I was cacking myself if I'm honest as there where some ruts too and I've got the 20" with Low Pros fitted, so wasn't sure on traction. Chucked the Terrain Response in Mud/Ruts and it just dealt with it.

It did just take it in it's stride, it was effortless. The gearbox could do with a lower 1st gear though as there is no hi-low just wizardry, which I believe the new 9 speed gives. Although Terrain Response helped a little.

To be honest, that's probably the first and last time! Craig Rogers

The Evoque also officially has the same wading depth as the Puma. Thumbs Up

Its actually 'un officially' more than the Defender according to the designers a Gaydon. They decided to limit the 'official' wading depth to match the Defender so as not to out do its big old brother.

Design wise I think they could have made it neigh on perfect if they wouldn't have done the silly squat rear windows.
They nearly always seem to be in white around here too.
Still prefer the Defender though. Whistle $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

The other half had a petrol dynamic for about 9 months, she got bored of it and replaced it with a D4

MrsK's had her Evoque for 2 years now...loves it Thumbs Up

MPG isn't quite as good as we would like, but it's the 190bhp model with auto, and she's a bit heavy-footed.

We've not had deep snow yet, but what we have had the Evoque's been great. Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

They seem popular on here then! I particularly like the adjustable speed on the HDC, which is a very handy feature Thumbs Up An engine to TDi for!

On the Pure the headlights are not great (halogens) - so I'm just back inside (with cold fingers to prove it) having installed a set of Osram Night Breaker Unlimited HB3 Headlight Bulbs

Will use it soon to go to the gym and see if it's better (and check alignment) Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)
