Have you checked fade front to rear on the head unit?

Have you checked for power / earthing? Also worth identifying wire colours on the loom and adaptor to the speaker end cable colours to check everything is connected up where it should be. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Thanks for the replies.
The fader is in the central position and I have tried moving it right to the back - no sound. Not sure what you mean by power/earthing? The head unit is working through the front speakers. I suspect/hope its the wiring on the adapter. Has anyone else used one? |

Have you checked for power at the rear speaker end on the positive + wires? (Radio needs to be playing to do this)
And the earth - too. You'd need a multimeter to do this. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Hi Steve,
I had my multimeter across + and - and there was nothing. The earth (-) goes back to the head unit. How should I be testing that? |

Continuity test I believe it is, test the - wire to a good chassis earth and you will know it is working through that.
I'm not super hot on how you describe it but on my multimeter with the right setting if you touch the two probes together you'll get a beep to show a good connection. The closer the reading to 0 the better hopefully more of less 0. This way you can check the earth is working. No beep and there is an earthing issue. (Someone more up on their electronics details could perhaps correct me on this better) Testing for power between the positive and negative of the speaker wire still doesn't determine if there is power there or not. There could be bu with a bad earth or non connected earth show no power when there is. Sort this by texting the + with the radio on with the positive probe on the + wire and the negative again on a good chassis earth I.e. A structural bolt. Once you've determined which is the issue you know what to target. The earth needs checking and the power both could be at fault. My guess is it's not connected somewhere. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Ah yes continuity, I'll try later. Best way is to connect + and - together at one end then put the meter across the + and - at the other. Should get a very low reading, less than 1 ohm. If you get infinity then one of the wires is broken.

OK, I pulled the head unit tonight with my ISO pin out diagram in hand. I traced the rear speaker outputs from the head unit through the adapter and to the Land Rover connecter. Guess what? There are no rear speaker cables connected to it.
I had a poke around in the dash and cannot find them. So where are they? Any clues? |

So they were there at the speaker ends? I'm guessing so so the wires are there.
If you can't find them they must be hidden up somewhere behind there or under mats somewhere. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Yes cables are there at the speaker ends. Its going in to the local ICE centre today to get an under seat sub fitted. I'll ask them to sort it out.

They'll either fish out the cables that are there somewhere or perhaps because it's quicker run new wires instead.
If they do they'll probably be better anyway. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |
