I have my mic at the top of the a pillar on the drivers side. But it is Kenwood so actually works! (Takes cover!)
It seems iPhones and most in car BT system often get sone issue or other at some point. Most are easily solved though with a simple fiddle of a few settings. Might be worth doing a sound check though, give someone a call as a test if they are willing. Ignition on no air vents going so silence, see how it sounds then. If it still sounds quiet there's a mic sound pick up issue, if it sounds better it's the positioning that's causing the problem. If none of that works out then there is small chance there might actually be a problem with the mic it's self. Last edited by custom90 on 30th Jan 2014 9:48pm. Edited 2 times in total |

Pull the head unit out of the dash and make sure the mic is physically plugged into the back of the head unit.

Dont do that, its a cracking stereo. Has it ever worked, or has the mic failed recently? Its just a 3.5mm jack plug in the back, so it may well of come out.

If its an incoming call not outgoing that has the problems, have you tried to answer the incoming on the head unit its self and not on the phone ?
In sone cases if you answer from the phone and not the head unit the mike used is the phone mike and not the external one, which means while in the call in some cars you have to manually select the car before the caller can here you. I think this is aimed at you not having or supposed to touch your phone while driving and so control is done via the head unit and not the phone buttons. Yep my phone give me this option, answer the call on the phone and you have use the phone for the call. Answer the call with the head unit and the Bluetooth takes the call.

Incoming and outgoing, the mic wont work. Adjusted the gain on the mic and bounced between phone / speaker / HU while on a call. Pha!!! I'll see if it's not been plugged in...
