Hissing noise when I take fuel filler cap off
Sorry if this has been covered - nothing came up on my searches..

I've a 2012 110 USW. When I filled it up yesterday there was a noticeable hissing noise as, I guess, there must have been a vacuum in the tank.

I usually fill up when the tank gets to half but this time I had used 3/4 of the tank. I will take the cap off again to check when the I have used 1/4 of the tank as I'm slightly concerned that too strong a vacuum could damage the tank.

So, my question is. Is this likely to be a problem with a vent on the tank or a vent on the cap itself? Still under warranty so no big deal, but knowledge is power if I need to get this sorted.

Any advice gratefully received! 300 TDi 110 CSW

breather pipe will be blocked or more likely kinked. Well documented problem!

I don't know if they are the same but I had the same problem on my Td5.

Turned out to be the tank vent pipe at the back of the rear nearside wheelarch (vertical pipe with a u-bend in it clipped to the chassis leg) had come adrift from its mounting and had fallen onto the exhaust pipe and sealed itself.

As I say, I don't know if Pumas have them but easy to look. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop
Now a 2013 110 USW too.
