the bell housing was full of silver dust which must be metal dust off the springs chaffing on the friction plate centre . 1 main spring out, the others rattle like Censored . the inner and outer spring that had come out were wedged in the cover stopping the clutch from disengaging. the little springs around the centre 1 had a chunk missing and 2 more are broke! the difference now is unbelievable, the slap in the drive has gone completely Thumbs Up Very Happy Very Happy NO ROAD..........EXCEPT FOR LANDROVER

Some L/R fixer mates done a 110 pick up before xmas.

The clutch was just like this in your pic. I had a look at the remains in there wk shop Laughing

Got all the bits to do mine now, so just need a day with help from a L/R mate to assist Thumbs Up Chris

Is the same size of clutch alignment tool used for both the 2.4 and 2.2?

I can get one from the world favourite auction site, but it just has 2.4 listed?

Old thread but I have a suggestion for you. Don't even bother with the EBay Specials. I have one and it was totally useless. You're better off getting an old screwdriver and making it thicker using electrical tape or something to the same effect.
The alignment tools on eBay have a load of slop in them so it becomes guesswork anyway. Save yourself the 15-20 quid! Thumbs Up
If you're totally set on using one, I can send you mine for the postage. (That's how useless it is.)

Roger, I will give the screw driver method ago.

I am just about to order the clutch fix kit, it’s going in an early 2015 Defender 90.

What is the general opinion of changing the slave cylinder at the same time?

I think most people would suggest that, yes.
On mine, a 2010 with only 40k on the clock I found the slave/release bearing to have considerable play in comparison to the one I was replacing it with.
By the time it's all back together, you'd be swearing at yourself for not getting it done whilst the box is out. Smile

The clutch fix HD kit has 2 options;

1 including clutch slave and valves etc and 1 without.

As my car is 2015, am I able to get away with just ordering the slave cylinder separate with out the valves etc?

As I said, best to just change it. LR took enough shortcuts for you to be doing a clutch change after 3 years.
