Hopefully something similar to this in the form of a cat and possibly DPF combined with all needed marks and stamps on will keep things legal where needed at the mot stations.

I think I may have caused confusion to a few members, Ill clarify to save further confusion.

The picture above is just something I found on the net as an example and is not what im going to use as an exact item BUT this is a fully legal race cat. It was posted to explain an idea!.
Im looking to make a full CAT/DPF but in race form to allow the car to breath better, it will be fully legal and have all the needed marks and numbers to pass the MOT.

I will as also said be producing a total removal for non road use only in, EG competition, full race and non EU etc etc.

Or remove said dpf or cat, fabricate look a like unit with straight thru pipe refit and who would know.

AIUI there's a significant temperature drop across a DPF - if this is indeed the case then anyone with an IR thermometer would be able to perform a quick and non-invasive check. MOT station aren't equipped with them, but if there's widescale Censored taking then you never know what'll happen...

As big Steve Steve says "there will always be a way of getting is round the law", so perhaps to counter the IR thermometer a hot water jacket can be built into the DPF/CAT heated by run off reactor coolant from Chernobyl? Alternatively leave the thing on as was intended by LR Rolling Eyes If you are an owner and you are removing these then you are irresponsible in doing so. If you are a tuning company removing these things then you are also irresponsible. What makes you worse though is that you are profiting from the removal off them. Saying that you will only remove them for off road, competition use is a cop out as quite clearly these vehicles will be used on road, no matter what indemnity customers may be asked to sign to the contrary. Clearly a contentious topic.

if somebody wants to buy the product irespective of whether its for offroad use or not they will and they will use it also if the tuning companys choose to supply this product then i cant see it being iresponsible i see it being the purchasers choice!

people that buy a map have the egr turned off how many people slag that off ? as 9times out of 10 its a benefit to switch it off as fuel econemy is better and so on ......

iw ouldnt tie a tuneing comapany up as iresponsible as a select few do alot of development work and spend months testing things before they are releaed to public

if it wasnt safe to remove they wouldnt remove it ?

im afraid what people bolt to there cars is down to the indivdual who owns the car not the company that supplys it as it not illegal to supply ?

The biggest issue I have with DPFs is the fuel used for regen is not considered during the EU test infact if a regen starts during a test cycle the test is abandoned. This is partly why cars use much more fuel than advertised. A regen happens at least once every 150miles(certainly on the new Mazdas) and uses a lot of fuel. This gets the CO2s down when not regening but doesn't help mpg.

If we could remove the insitue emissions control equipment eg EGR DPF Cat etc and tune for mpg it would make a massive difference adn I can't believ we woudln't have cleaner cars overall rather tan wasting energy and thus polluting by using energy to force exhaust gases through sives.

My brother 2.4 puma gained nearly 10% mpg by losing the CAT and better response and power.

I never really understood that the various pollution measures introduce seem to always increase fuel consumption, the mine industry, rail and fishing industries have not such equipment on their diesel engines ! Very Happy
