Hi
Saw an advert for JE Engineering who claim significant improvements on performance with their Stage 1 Tuning chip. I wondered if any of you had any experiences with having a TD5 chipped - if so are they +ve or -ve If +ve, could you recommend a good company. Close(ish) to Junction 17 of the M4 if I need to take the car in to get the work done. Otehrwise, is it easy for me to do the work myself.......... Thanks chopdogs |

Chops,
In the week I am very close to where you are (J16 M4) and have used these people before, they are only one hours drive away. I have no personal experience with TD 5 but have had a Puma upgrade carried out by these individuals, there are graphs depicting expected increases for TD 5s a look here: http://www.james-french.co.uk/power-upgrades.asp Depends what you are looking for 'Plug and play' or 'remapping!' If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I had a brief drive in IRB Developments' 90 at the weekend - simply staggering, and that was only the Stage 1 tune. I was so impressed that I bought the tuning pack on the spot, despite promising myself that I wouldn't have one!
Ian (the fellow who runs IRB) is a hugely nice chap. I was having problems with my project TD5 so he drove down from Birmingham to fix it for me - all for the price of a tank of fuel! He works for JLR in Engine Development during the week so knows his stuff. He will do an ECU by post if you need a chip soldering (early ECU) or it can be loaded remotely with Nanocom if it is a later version. I cannot recommend IRB enough.... My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk 110 TD5 BuildHERE - sold! 110 Tdci Build HERE - sold! Passat Alltrack - 4x4, auto, 45mpg, gloriously comfortable - but not a Defender! |
