Do any other tdci's run like this ????
Why oh why does my 110 tdci decide to run like utter s***e now and then?? Sometimes I can jump in and it will be a smooth delivery of power with plenty of grunt and go, then I can come back an hour later or a day later and it will be terrible, slow sluggish, and as if a cylinder is not firing properly ???

There are no fault codes coming up on my ultra guage, no dash warning lights.
It does it both hot and cold and you may as well flip a coin as to the type of drive your going to have.

It's not limp mode, but just as though its being strangled sometimes.

Is this a common thing? I suspect when I bought it, it had been steam cleaned to death, so am maybe thinking water ingress somewhere or a dodgy loom plug??

Any help appreciated !

First thoughts is that it could be an intercooler hose collapsing in on itself due to delamination?

You are not far from me at all, book it in with me for the day and leave it with me and ill take a look. It could be many things from a fuel fuel filter needing changing to a dodgy VCV failing.

Not since it's last service from LR, it has 3 months left on its warranty. Then I'll service it myself..

LR cant find anything wrong ! I'll order some filters and change at the weekend. It wont hurt, I'll have a look at the hoses at the same time.

Thanks, I am just waiting for my bonus payment in march and I'll be having it re-mapped. If it continues, I'll book it in first with you to find any existing gremlins !

.......ha ha ... I'm not alone. my sanity might be coming back.

Mine seems to have improved loads only tonight coming home from work it was operating as I would expect....hope.

do you get the feeling of kangaroo fuel when driving very slowly in 1st?

All I can tell you I've changed a few things on mine in the quest to resolve issues and none seem to have fixed the problem. I've been very slowly narrowing down where the issue lies and at present if I HAD to put money I where the problem lies I'd suggest its one of the following;

- turbo actuator (be that wiring, of sticking/high friction of actuator rod)
- MAF sensor (or wiring of)

I'll hopefully have a new MAF sensor to fit very soon so hopefully I'll have narrowed the problem down further. I gave the MAF sensor and electrical connector a good clean last night and tried to 'push' the wiring back into the plug incase there's a poor connection.

out of interest do you drive yours quite slowly?

do you also get poor gear changes from time to time ie like you've lost revs briefly just as you change gear and hence don't get a good smooth change?

smooth running you can rev round to c4k and feels nice and smooth - other times you dare not rev it much cos it sounds like a bag of spanner?

I drive it normally until it drives me mad and i give it an Italian tune up, it dosen't seem to matter though?
It gets a long blast down the motor way now and then but It's upto 70 every day on my short trip to work.

I do get the kangaroo juice feeling in first, put your foot down and nothing happens!
I sometimes get s****y gear changes between 3rd and 4th with a nice crunch now and then !!

It never sounds rough, just flat and un responsive now and then. Foot to the deck and nothing happens for a few secs then it finally starts to pull.

I'll do the filters and check all the hoses and plugs at the weekend.

It's a shame because occasionally it goes like stink and put a smile on yer face!

Sounds like it needs servicing and filters changing.
A crunch between 3rd or 4th isn't what should be though. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

sounds like it may have a caterhamitus.....good luck Rolling with laughter

oh joy ....you've cheered me up no end.

sorry it doesn't help you any but I feel like a big weight has been lifted off my shoulders Very Happy

would be really interested to know if giving your MAF a good squirst of contact cleaner has any impact. If Pete sorts for you (or anyone else) I'd be really interested to know what it was.

GOOD LUCK....if my experience is anything to go by I suspect from time to time you find it very mildly frustrating?

my 08 110 is having the same issues. i have referbed the injectors, new fuel filter (service). just sepnt last night putting on a new egr valve and was horrified to see the amount of soot in the intake manifold caked on. anyhow on a drive today again peddle went dead. no vroom no power no MIL light NO error codes. the only thing left is a the volume control valve on the fuel pump.

it feels like its a naturally aspirated engine and just has no oomph anymore.
ill update if the vcv has made a difference to mine
