SSE new Defender MEWP


Looks pretty good! Glad to see my old employer have gone back to buying Defenders, only took them a few years to realise Rangers just aren't up to the job. I wonder if they will be buying any more Hard tops? 2011 110 USW

Going on the fact that my employers have just bought a 3rd '57 plate 130 with 14m versalift, its good to see that more are being purchased. Or do SSE lease them??

What does your employer do Romadog?

I couldn't tell you if SSE buy or lease. The more specialist stuff was generally bought so far as I know when I was there, but things like Transits were leased. 2011 110 USW

Stumbled across this thread - the MEWP shown is one of the last to come out of the versalift factory.

Land Rover are no longer willing to give type approval to Versalift - therefore no more Defender with versalift mounted platforms, shame as they're unbeatable for power companies Sad

I wonder why that is? Are they offering approval to any of the other MEWP manufacturers?

It does seem they want to kill off the Defender doesn't it? First they drop the HD spec 110, now this...! 2011 110 USW
