This movie was taken on a highway in Belgium by a dash camera installed in a loaded working van. The van driver, after doubling the truck, and returning to the right lane when seeing this BMW cutting him from the emergency lane gave a few high beam signals, and you can then see the reaction of the BMW. The story is all over the Flemish newspapers every day, and police got involved. The BMW driver, who has been identified and who is a known "police customer" now is blaming the van driver....
You never actually own a Defender. The van driver was in the outside lane for 10 seconds before the beemer appeared so for him to cut the beemer up the beemer must of been doin about 150mph (on the hard shoulder??). Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

That's terrible driving agree with Ken though we don't know if anything happened just before but I would guess the BMW driver was simply being a plank and using the hard shoulder to overtake, I would have pushed him off the road. It's people like that which give BMW drivers a bad name! 2001 TD5 110 County Station Wagon - sold

As Ken says, no idea what has happened in the previous minute or so but that is no excuse for bad driving.
Now let us genuinely believe that the BMW driver was in a hurry. By unnecessary harsh braking then the van might have rear end shunted the BMW. If that did happen then the BMW driver is not going to get to their destination on time! Then there is the risk of injury or death, let alone having to deal with a mangled car/insurance companies. Apart from the forward facing camera on board the van the chances are that the other van driver which had just been overtaken would have a clear view of what happened. If he stopped and gave evidence?? I wonder how many people can honestly say that they have not reacted badly to an event on the road? Or made a bad judgement/decision on the road? I for one will admit to not being a perfect driver. However must agree that the BMW driver did react badly and am I not surprised that he is a known "police customer" A nice turn of phrase there Eric Brendan |

I had a similar thing happen to me a while back in the Peak District. I was heading towards Buxton to start some laning and I was travelling at 45mph behind a car who was behind a lorry.
Then a Focus behind me overtook me and forced his way in front of me, I had to brake very suddenly so I obviously vented my frustration by giving him a hoot, which is twin air horns, so not discrete. He took offence to this and slammed his brakes on. Not easy to stop a 110 quickly and narrowly avoided his back end by taking to the grass verge to avoid him. He then tried to block me in and got out of his car, I just drove around him shook my head at him and carried on (part of me wanted to wear out some of my knuckle skin, but common sense was a bigger winner). Eventually he caught back up overtook and then was gone. I had my GoPro on the dashboard ready for capturing the laning later. I sooooooo wish it was running as I would of taken great pleasure in giving it to the Police. These people seriously need to take a long look at themselves and ask one simple question.......Why? I was on my Pushbike and a Disco nearly had me.
Just really bad driving far too close and fast. Had a Disco3.co.uk sticker in the back window, not sure whether to do a Spotted! thread with a link to the Highway code. |
