It's not a service item, but wouldn't hurt to do it.
Easy enough job. although a slide hammer with a "hook" on it helps to get the injectors out A little dab of grease to hold the washer in place. some oil/lubricant to help the seal go "in" easily. and make sure you fit the injectors back in the order they came out, unless you want to reprogram your ECU. The injector lash is dead easy to adjust too. |

Is it just the few seals, washers and cover gasket I need then ( fitted a new loom couple of years ago so should be grand)
Suppose around service time would be better n renew oil etc at same time. |

Yes, 5x seals, 5x copper washers,
I never bother to renew the rocker gasket, I just put a thin line of instant gasket all around it, never had one leak yet. |

A long Allen key under the bridge between the injector halves as a lever works very well too. |

Workshop manual says to replace the 6 x rocker arm bolts and the 10 x lash adjusters.
Who does that? |

I tend to change the bolts, and have had issues with the lash adjusters before on a late td5 engine, so nowadays would change them aswell by default. (if I had the head off - the lash adjusters cannot be removed when just doing injector seals)

Do you know the part numbers for bolts and lash adjusters?

Couple of tips. If you put insulation tape over the grove in the injector it helps prevent the seal twisting when you fit it.
When turning the engine over to adjust the injector rockers it is easier to jack up one front wheel and turn it than remove the fan and put a socket on the crank bolt. |

Only use genuine seals bought from a franchised dealer.
There are many adverts out there (especially Ebay) which sell fakes as genuine. They don't work. You'll be doing the job again in two weeks. ![]() |

I never went near the lash adjusters when I did mine but I did replace the injector rocker arm bolts along with the injector adjustment screws and lock nuts.
