2010 defrender keeps dying
I've had my defender 3 months with 42K on the clock , not had any problems, driving mostly at night but never a problem starting. just recently I left the lights on while getting something to eat. driving home the EML came on and the truck started chugging, pulled over turned off. The EML stayed on. After getting home I turned it on and off several times and the EML went out .Next day started as normal went on short journey to my Dads (12 miles) went to leave, dash lights came on, turned the key, LIGHTS OUT, DEAD. After 10mins of swearing I tried again, lights on lights out dead again. I left it at my dads went home with girlfriend and returned next day with some jump leads. It started first time with the leads drove home and turned off tried it again and 10 times after, started every time. 3 days later it started fine got to the garage to fill up tried to start up, same thing happened again DEAD. I'm going to take the battery off the truck and charge it then give it another go. Could there be any other reasons for this to happen on these trucks? I read some bits about the immobilizer creating a similar problem could this be another reason

Does anyone have an Idea?

And give it a good charge up.unless of course you have been doing that. All those start ups will have taken their toll on the battery unless you either charge it up or have been on a good run. Thumbs Up LANDYWATCH

Also check the main and starter relays under the driver's seat are tight in their sockets. Loose relays or poor connections can cause these symptoms.

It was a low battery and loose connection, thanks. Now the EM light has come on the way back from work tonight, but I haven't lost any power in the engine and it is running fine, I don't understand it. I'll check the oil and water levels tomorrow in the daylight.
