Is there any risk the wire short circuits over time? Or is there some protection to the plastic coating on the wire?

I have so far fed my wire as mentioned through the arms and round the door under the seal into into the centre of the dash, I just have not had time to dismantle the bloomin dash to get into the console and conect them up!

Does anyone know where I would graqb a feed from the front screen relay in the TD5 dash so I can use the mirrors in conjunction with that?

Megatoad, why don't you connect to the wires that go to the heated windscreen ??

Thats a thought!

As I still have not had time to do it yet.

Do you mean piggyback off each teminal on the left and right side of the screen?

Will it have any impact on the current through the screen itself? He who dies with the most toys wins Smile

It's just another thought to add to the thread but I wired my mirrors through an independant switch as I'll often have mine on when the screen is off, generally when going home at night I find that if it's damp and drizzly I don't want to have to turn on the front screen to clrar the mirrors so I can reverse to my parking spot plus the times when the screen is warm when driving but temp changes cause the mirrors to fog over.

An alternative to drilling into the door is to run the cable from under the door hinge through the door pillar and straight into the dash.
The cable goes through the ball in the mirror, under the grove in the mirror arm, into the swivel joint, out of the plastic cap at its base and into the base of the hinge - then through into the bulkhead next to the dash.
Sounds complicated but is straight forward.
Jake at Devon 4x4 had an excellent thread on their forum showing how he had done his.
I copied his ideas and it looks very neat and is easy to do.
The post was called "Overland 110 Build" in the vehicle projects thread - the post is still there but with no pictures.
I am sure Jake would forward or re instate the pictures if asked. The post number is 82219.

BTW, I have the pictures from Jake, assuming he doesn't mind me posting, I can upload them or send them via PM.

Cheers

Simon

Good point, that said, mine is a TD5 so lets face it, the bloomin windows steam up long before the mirrors !!

I think I will try for an independant feed and use the swithc provided in the kit. He who dies with the most toys wins Smile
