Replacing door latch plate | |
Over the last couple of weeks I have suffered from the drivers door failing to close and stay close, it just bounce open.
On inspecting the latch plate I found that a chunk of the plastic roller had broken off and the problem only occurred when the missing part was at the top. A replacement part was obtained which appears to have a thicker, in section, plastic roller.
When replacing the part I found the nuts behind the pillar are not captive to the pillar but are welded to a loose plate located inside the pillar. I removed the top machine screw and loosened the bottom turned the old plate ninety degrees, fitted the new part loosely through the top hole, then removed the bottom bolt from the old part turned the new one into the correct position and tightened up both screws job done. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to us off.
