Click image to enlarge Mine's a keeper and after 4 MoT's and another due next month this is just becoming the longest ownership of one motor, especially one that is kept on the road, and has been my daily driver since day one |

Three and a half years ownership for me too, no intention of getting rid either. Especially seeing as I only do around 7k a year. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

It's not exactly the same, but I've only ever owned a defender!
A 200tdi 90 to learn in when I was 17.. A 2.4 90 when I passed my test and just more recently my lovely 2.4 110 Wouldn't dream of anything else instead, if I could afford id have a scooby too! Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Funnily enough I've had a few Scoobies too, 5 in fact; 2 pick ups, a Hatchback, a Legacy Turbo and the 1 of the 1st 35 Impreza Turbos into the UK in May 1994. I had that one for nearly 9 years to 16 January 2003 when a lorry driver fell asleep at the wheel in Kincardine (Fife, Scotland) and hit me up the rear when I was waiting to turn into a filling station; the impact pushed me across 2 lanes of traffic and 1 row of pumps into a Fiesta parked at the 2nd row! Luckily the woman who owned it was paying for her petrol or she'd have lost her legs! (ironically she was heading to give a lecture at the Police Training College at Tulliallen, half a mile up the road!). Much to the Police's surprise, the car still drove...

For me that is just a classic Land Rover Defender picture - Green paintwork/White roof and doing what it was designed to do. I am wondering though if today's Defenders are really built to last as long (or will the failure of the expensive electro-trickery and value engineered components consign them to the recycling skip before too long)? |
