David- That's pretty quick! Last time it took me 3h 30mins from Sandbach! That was in D3 comfort as well! An engine to TDi for!

going to be starting about 10:30... people will be emailed start point
given the amount of rain and flooding, we will be sticking mainly to steel roads including a run around Imber. |

I went up to Imber about lunchtime today. Were a few people in there, but nothing too busy (The church was closed, which was a shame as I had a fiver in my pocket to buy some Imber honey... which probably tastes of diesel and cordite, but hey ho)
Came back via Tillshead/Westdown camp/The Bustard (What was) across the Larkhill ranges to Sidbury hill/CCDA. Lots of dog walkers, but passed no 4x4's on the return leg to sidbury/CCDA The main cat1 tracks were more or less puddle free. The small streams and river Avon at CC crossing were very deep and flast flowing, so I suspect if you look, you'll be able to find some deep water at the usual suspects locations Very strange at Windmill hill (just a you come into Tidworth from Marlborough, on the LH side) the whole hill and surrounding lowland was covered by one very low cloud. All the rest of the area was bright sunshine, apart from this one part.... very weird. |

The cat1 tracks were doing exactly as they're designed to.... getting rid of the water, so they were nearly dusty in places.
However, 50' off piste and you'll be in a slippery load of trouble... the grassy land looked very wet in places. I suspect the byway through the "mud hole" will be messy... I for one will be giving that a miss I think. By Saturday every chav and his Maxxed up Pajero/Disco1 on 98" tyres will have been through there. |

Forecast is dry for Friday and Saturday though , so hopefully it will have dried out a bit.
What's the situation with groups? Will we just split up there or will we be assigned a group in the email? Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |
