They look good Eric
Personally I wouldn't have done it through fear of rust, mines bad enough without me putting holes in it! Having said that im sure it will be ok but I'd certainly keep an eye on them to make sure no waters getting trapped. Certainly one of the best svx's I've seen and love the look with the winter wheels on ![]() Cheers Tom Defender puma dormobile camper |

Psychic, me?
![]() ![]() I will refrain from commenting in detail here on the various European ideas of separatism, but whatever you will vote for next year, the Land Rover Series I, II, III, up to the current Defender, will always remain associated with being British for which the Union Jack stands as the real symbol. When in less than 2 years Land Rover will end 67 years of making this family of trucks, I will not throw my Defender away. No, it is here to stay, and with it that "Union Jack" and the flag of "La Confédération Suisse" (leave you google or wikipedia what the latter really stands for). None of those icons will ever be obsolete, even if one or more of them might become living history ![]() By the way, together with the Swiss Black Pearl limited edition, Land Rover has produced a German Black Pearl limited edition. Guess how many Union Jacks they put on that one. ![]() http://www.hoyer.ps/cms/files/Defender_Bla...ition_.pdf You never actually own a Defender. Point of order...
Please can we call it the union flag? Union Jack might be the popular name, but it refers to when it is being flown on a flagpole!! Personally, I'd have put this flag on the right-hand side vent (with the union flag on the left).... ![]() Click image to enlarge Real trucks don't have spark plugs |

Union Jack might be the popular name, but it refers to when it is being flown on a flagpole!! ------------------------------------------------- I have never heard that one before. The commonly accepted "belief" is that calling it the Union Jack is only acceptable when flying from a Warship, which is a 20th century Urban Myth I'm afraid. Union Flag or Union Jack are, historically, equally acceptable |

Warships don't fly (national) flags, rather, they wear ensigns. Back on topic, where did the OP get these from? Real trucks don't have spark plugs |

Details are in my OP... got them from Startech in Germany (www.startech.de). These emblems are very high quality, but also pretty expensive as everything from Startech. My recommendation would be that if you want to install the same duo of Union Jack + Swiss flag as I did, it makes sense to check with Startech as the two emblems are of the same style and production type. If however you would be more interested in one or more Union Jack emblems, you will be able to find those elsewhere for better price/quality ratio. I know for instance that Morgan offer a very nice Union Jack emblem, high quality and believe cheaper than those from Startech. If not those from Morgan, the internet is your friend for this.

Wow, those prices really are truly eye-watering! Think I'll stick with the 'utility wagon' badge that some on here have purchased, along with a certain cantonal flag... Real trucks don't have spark plugs

While I like the emblems, just a minor point: I would have expected the two emblems to be the same size... Cheers, Vincent

Vincent, here is some insider information. The emblems are actually correctly sized.
The Union Jack is a rectangular flag... The Confédération Suisse flag officially is a square... So the width of both emblems is exactly the same, but the height is different to make the flags sized in line with their official formats. Would you expect anything else from Startech than Deutsche gründlichkeit? ![]() Eric You never actually own a Defender. They didn't remove the St Patrick's Cross (The old Irish Flag) when Ireland was given it's independence and they wouldn't do it for Scotland either. This was the flag before the act of union between Britain and Ireland (From 1606 to 1801): ![]() Click image to enlarge He'll be safe enough. http://defender90xs.blogspot.co.uk/ |

So, having the variant used by ships (The civil and state ensign, used by Swiss ships and boats, has the more common proportions of 2:3.), I'll have to sail my Defender on the Lake of Geneva, next time I am in Switzerland...
