Suspension upgrade
I have a 2001 TD5 County Hardtop.

I've added a rear drawer system to hold all my gear, and combined weight with all my kit must be around 150-200kg. I also have a front winch and winch bumper, not sure of weight, but heavy.

With the extra weight, it now seems to sit at least an inch, if not more, lower than it did.

I'd like to return the ride height to previous levels, and perhaps a little higher, and also handle the weight a bit better, especially when on the rough stuff.

Can anyone advise what rate of springs I need to uprate the suspension, and would an additional 2" height spring be a good idea (to bring the height back to +1" over standard)...?

Views on shock absorbers would also be appreciated, I'm still on the originals (its a 2001 model, but just done 30k miles).

Cheers

Simon

EDIT: should say its a 90..Wink

My 110 was starting to become a lttle tired with all the "stuff" in the back let slone the 7drawer tool chest. What I did with mine was to.add a set of 130 inner springs to the existing set up along with new standard LR shock absorbers. This improved the stance at the back and put it back at the factoty height. The ride is soother and less wallowy and when towing it feels firmer.

I've fitted a pair of genuine HD rear springs to my 90 and they have made little difference to the ride height. It still looks lower than I want.

As a matter of interest, the height from floor to the wheel arch is around 35" both front and rear, the rear passenger side is a little lower by .5" due to more of the tools being on that side of my drawers. I'm running 255/85 BFG MT2 tyres.

What height are others running and what springs are you using..?

Cheers

When I was running standard suspension on my 90 I put 1" Gwyn Lewis spacers under the rear springs to get the look that I wanted. Was happy with ride, just needed to adjust the height. Got them here if you want them pm me.
