Switzerland 2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SVX Station Wagon Santorini Black
A minor Startech upgrade - Union Jack and Swiss flag
Added a nice touch to the SVX by installing a Union Jack and a Swiss flag emblem. Startech produced these emblems for the Swiss Defender Black Pearl limited edition of 2010, and I was able to still order these two emblems from them. My dealer have riveted them to the SVX in the same location as on the Black Pearl edition, the rivets used are alu, but they still used plenty of Duralac, remains of which are visible on the detailed pics. I do like the result on the SVX, think a nice little touch, no overkill at all. Here follow some pictures, first one is in the spirit of the season... Thumbs Up
Eric

Very smart.
Are they rivetted on ?
If so I hope you sealed the backs of the plates with a suitable sealant

Happy all like it. Very Happy
Romadog, yes, they are riveted on. Alu rivets into an alu part of the truck, and the emblems are also made out of alu. But as I said, I asked the dealer to squirt plenty of Duralac in the holes and between the emblem and the truck panel. For those who may not know Duralac (easy to find in the UK), it is a anti-corrosion jointing compound which is used in boating circles for avoiding corrosion where different metals are contacting each other. In this case probably a bit overkill given that it is all alu, but better safe than sorry. Thumbs Up You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

The bulkhead is steel, not aluminium. The Duralac is a good move to separate the two metals but I'm not sure I'd rely on it to seal the holes Confused Darren

Darren, did not know that that part is also steel now. I think plenty of Duralac in the holes and also pressed in between the emblems and the bulkhead will be sufficient. I doubt that such a tight fit will allow any water to enter the holes. On top of that next spring my SVX will get a full Dinitrol respray (after 3 years of original application), including the bulkhead, and I will ask the company who will do this to pay extra attention to respray that inside part of the bulkhead, so behind where the rivets are now. This company we found here in Switzerland for Dinitrol is absolutely amazing, they do the full "zagging" treatment, plus some more, and I am not kidding here. Those guys are as precise and thorough as a prime Swiss watch maker. I don't think I am too worried about water ingress risk, but if something happens, I will have so restauration work to do in 20 years or so. Laughing

Mick, those are Wolf HD wheels in black with Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT tires in the standard 235/85-16 size. That is the Defender winter tire and wheels package which here is offered by Land Rover Switzerland as an official Land Rover Defender accessory. They look nice, and they are a nice ride, just a tad more noisy at speeds above 80 km/h than my summer GG TRs.

You bet they do. Thumbs Up As Defender winter tire, probably as good as it gets. If you order them now, you will get the LT2 version, the successor to the LT which I have.

Apart from a few early Series I's, the bulkhead has always been steel and it can be a real rust trap, unfortunately. Darren
