Have a quick read here - http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/lr/owners/s...e-history/
Basically your dealer will be able to give you a print out of it. I havent seen it in practise yet though, but in theory it should work well and bring an end to the issue of lost service historys. |

What happens if you get a vehicle serviced at an independent for example? Surely then there'll be a problem about mismatched service history... Some online and then some on a piece of paper? An engine to TDi for!

Good point!
As I understand it there is a way they can fill in the history. I will do some digging! |

Excellent! Just curious really, as if you haven't got a paper service book they've got nothing to stamp! An engine to TDi for!

Wouldn't think there would be a problem from Land Rover's point of view - their computerised system will just clearly show which vehicles have a comprehensive official service history (including warranty work) from new and those vehicles that may have a 'patchy' service record - including the £85 fully inclusive service by Joe Bodg-it and his lump hammer. |

I was talking to my local independent garage about the same thing on Thursday. They said they could purchase a paper logbook and stamp that and provide a copy of the work sheet as well.
Would also be intrestered in seeing if the official one can be accessed by others |

I've already had one of these 'Service Books' from an independent and it looks very official but I'd probably describe it as "not worth the paper it's written on". The motor trade is infamous for dodgy work practices whether it's an independent or main dealer supported workshop. If you can find a technically competent and fairly priced workshop stick with them - I'm less interested in paying for awful coffee, newspapers in reception and a technically illiterate youngster on the desk full of their own self importance.
