manual throttle
has anyone ever seen a dial or 'twist pot' for a throttlwe on a td5. I am presuming that on the throtle, there are two wires coming off into the ecu where the current changes as you use the accelarator? Can you piggyback a dial throttle to this as well that can be mounted up on the dashsomewhere for when you are jumpstarting stuff or useing an inverter for a lot of power i.e. welder etc.

Or have i got my knickers in a tw!st! Shocked

Not quite. There are three parallel pots in the throttle position sensor (two on early vehicles) doing different things (one supplies a dropping voltage and one an increasing voltage as the pedal is pressed - so the sum of both should be steady at 12v so that the two pots can be validated, plus the third pot), so it isn't straightforward.

You could perhaps modify a throttle position sensor to turn it into a hand throttle, but you'd still have to switch between the two somehow.

I believe that there is a genuine hand throttle option for the TD5 Defender and Disco available from Landrover, but for reasons never adequately explained it is massively expensive, over a grand!
