Anyone have any idea how the switches on the centre console are lit up? Think I've done this before ages ago...just a little guidance needed before I dismantle.
Ta.

Is that how they are wired or actually illuminated ?

If the latter and they are the push type switches then they have a bulb that is inside the switch. The front cover does come off and I believe that gives access to the bulb/led. Not sure if it can be replaced though, it may be hard wired.

I can check over the weekend for you as I have a switch here in my spares box that I replaced the cover on a while back.

It is indeed a hard wired led, they can be changed ( thinking of white myself) except the hazard switch which has the worlds smallest incandescent bulb Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

The hazard switch bulb can be changed too - there was a thread on here about it only last week. Darren

The clear hazard switch bulb (STC1205) can be swapped for an orange bulb (STC1877), or a green bulb (STC1878).

The orange and green bulbs, used in D1/RRC and some Rover cars switches, are clear (3mm, wire-tailed) bulbs with a coloured 'condom' on them.

These Silicon Rubber 'condoms' can be bought in other colours -

Alternatively, you can buy 3mm 'grain of wheat' bulbs in other colours, and fit them into the switch's bulb holder -

You can also paint clear bulbs with thinned modeller's enamel paint, or nail varnish.
