Spotted a Santana at work today. Never seen one before in the flesh. Managed to have a mooch round it. Parabolic springs, resin roof, awful interior. Only thing I saw that possibly had anything going for it was the Iveco 2.8 lump fitted as standard under the bonnet. 'Touch and go' if you're actually going to make it going round corners apparently but may have had something to do with the cherry picker nailed on the posterior? Interesting 20 minutes though.

Not even remotely 'Defender', unfortunately. Much closer to the last of the Series III's, if anything. Darren

It may have the mechanical heritage of a Series but it does have more visual characteristics of a Defender I think.
A few others think so too...obviously.... https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=defender...mp;bih=575 If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I followed one through Wiltshire on Monday, a 110 used by the local Fire Service. Not the most appealing aesthetics and the lack of the characteristic rear crossmember just made it look wrong. Not my cup of tea at all. 2015 90 XS CSW TDCi - Beautiful

With the issues experienced of some forum members with HTs and the roof sweating Santana seemed to have cured it by affixing a premoulded double skin fibreglass roof on. Job jobbed then, looks great I think. The curved top-edge windscreen makes it look a bit like a Lada. Cheap as chips though and it does have quite a large following.

LOL I have just been looking at a "110" version in the same white at my dealers this morning. They use it as a work horse type car or as a loaner to farmers if their is nothing else available with a tow bar fitted.
Odd looking I must say. Pete |

Jeeps are lovely cars 4x4s! And the Wranglers heritage, relationship to the original is honoured & kept alive. Will the "Defender replacement" be such a homage to its predecessors? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender |
