Have insured loads with them from pick ups to the Landy and they are simply superb. No messing, stick to promises to ring back and very competitive quotes. Have all cars insured with them as a result.

Yeah, just read that...
I've seen lots of low prices, but rarely heard how good the claims performance is with brokers (no experience of A-Plan though), but it does worry me that at the time you want your insurance to work it may not. Cheers Simon |

In view of this thread.....
http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic23411.html And in particular this specific post with regards to the poor service experienced by an underwriter....
I have what I think to be a valid and important couple of queries..... I telephoned A-Plan's office in Milton Keynes today with a view of getting a quote from yourselves nearer my insurance renewal time. I found the person I spoke to very helpful and amiable. Interestingly it appears that you use perhaps some of the same underwriters as Adrian Flux, one of which myself and another forum member have had bad experiences from. His experience also unfortunately stretched to the broker itself. What guarantees can you give that your service will be better than any other 4x4 broker? When the cost of the insurance may not be the prime motivator but standard of service is, can you provide and guarantee good service from whom you recommend and get to underwrite the policy? Will you actively support your customer in the event of a claim if the underwriters start 'quipping?' If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

K9F, just to be clear, in my post where I referred to a quote I received from A-Plan, I wasn't suggesting I'd received poor service, just that it was the same insurer (Markerstudy) that was referred to in the other thread about Adrian Flux.
The treatment from A-Plan during the quoting process was very good..! I know you knew what I meant, but just wanted to be clear.. cheers simon |

Thank you for your questions, I hope I can help.
Firstly I wanted to make a comment about Markerstudy who seem to get bad press on web forums. Markerstudy like all insurers will reduce payouts or not pay in a claim if there is a good reason not too. This tends to be non disclosure of material information such as claims, convictions and very commonly non disclosed modifications. This area of the market is one of Markerstudy's main targets for business. Unfortunately there does seem to be a very high percentage of non disclosure in this area and in particular drivers under 25, again which Markerstudy target. A-Plan have used Markerstudy for many years and we have always found them to be very fair in all situations that our network of 70 offices have had. From my point of view, I genuinely believe A-Plan will go further and offer you an outstanding level of service on every occasion. Mistakes do happen, but if they do, we will hold our hands up and put everything right. The difference with A-Plan is we work on recommendation and out business is built the renewal of clients every year. We currently run around 85% across the branch network which is more than double of our competitors. We have never said we will be the cheapest, but we will always go the extra mile to make sure you get the level of service we are promising you. If claims do take a turn for the worse, again, we deal with all claims in house and we work for you. We will get involved and fight your corner and do the very best we can to get the required outcome. I hope this answers your questions, all the insurers we use have had a relationship with us for many years, and we would not be offering any products to you that would damage our 50 year reputation. I would be more than happy to discuss any concerns you have on the forum or personally on the phone. Kind Regards Steve Marsh |

Steve,
One thing that might help with the declared mods: When I asked for a quote, I declared 7 modifications to my Defender...but when the quote came back, there was no mention of the modifications. I didn't know if they had been considered or not. I can see that if I had accepted the quote, the mods might not have been included as they weren't mentioned on the quote. It might be good practice to include all information, including mods, on the quotes so there is no confusion or opportunity for misunderstanding. Hope that helps. cheers simon |

Couplands, no worries I wasn't implying you had bad service. I just don't want anything to do with Markerstudy. I have never claimed but their attitude stank when all I wanted to do was appraise them of a forthcoming attempt to claim against my insurance for which I was not at fault and accepted no responsibility! The fact is they then themselves requested a photocopy of my driving license or they would be cancelling my policy in 7 days! WTF?
Steve, thank you for your response, the questions were answered reassuringly, frankly and with great clarity. I look forward to your representative calling me in April. I am confident that my renewal will be through yourselves. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |
