Stopping the doors gnaws on seatbelts
The inevitable has happened. My drivers seat belt has been chewed up by the door lock enough to make it its frayed edge likely to fail the MOT.

Are there thicker, tougher (think Kevlar) belts on the market. I have bought a X-Trouser door thingy which is less sharp edged. Any design or extra that would pull back the belt away from a door edge would be good. Would a pre-tensioner work? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

Yep I've used the same, they need to be held up slightly but a pin has fixed that as they slide below the catch Thumbs Up It's good to be back from the dark side

Mine had two small scuff marks on the driver belt and I got an advisory. The tester told me that he should have failed it. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

Mines got marks on the passenger belt, marks however don't affect it's use Or strength unless actual damage or freying is present. Never had even an advisory from Ford in two years...
Main reason it happens IMO is (I've never caused it) but not letting the belt go to it's correct position and then getting out or getting out too fast, then it gets pulled out over the latch and then the door banged on it. Luckily for me not too much and often noticed first so avoids any damage.
My drivers side one never has had a mark because I have never managed it. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Many years ago, a passenger trapped his seatbelt in the door lock. Since then I’ve used a cable tie to prevent the bottom of the seatbelt being knocked outside when the passenger exits the truck.

I thought everybody did…

Ive never done it, but the girlfriend did the old "why is this door not shutting?" whilst repeatedly slamming the door on the seatbelt.

The relationship was only saved by the fact that she bought dinner Evil or Very Mad William
