Hi,
I am trying to find an internal roll cage, safety devices option does not fit the Puma see below: - http://www.safetydevices.com/expedition/pr...esent/230/ Anyone know any other options? I do know that Safety devices are due to develop one next year sometime... M 90 & Wolf 110 XS Previously owned SI SII SIIa SIII & Light weight (air portable) |

Protection and Performance can build one to fit... http://www.ppcages.com
I can't remember the full details, but when safety devices went through one of their bankruptcies PP bought design rights. They are used to doing custom builds so should be able to build one to fit. Thanks Steve |

Now, I accept the fact my Defender isn't as safe as a eurobox, but fitting the internal rollcage seems to even scare the **** out of me, thinking of a possible accident.
Ever tried to let someone drop a piece of steel tube on your head from just 10 centimeters above you? Image your head hits the cage during an accident. That skull won't hold... |

Imagine if your head hits the B-post, that is pretty solid; imagine your head hits the roof as the roof is driven violently down to waist level as the vehicle rolls.
This I'd rather take my chances with the roll-cage! Plenty of pictures were posted on thsi forum last year when this subject was last discusssed. You really don't want to be involved in a serious accident if you are in a standard Defender. |

I think the question is "internal v external" cage, not "internal v none at all".
Totally agree that a cage is a worthwhile addition, the roof of a Defender is like paper mâché ... Cheers Simon |

In my case I'm considering the external for quite a long time already. It's just that I'm still not so sure how clients will react when I would park a 'Tomb Raider - Rambo' Defender on their driveway.

Ihave a P&P fill external on my 110. As much as I like it, i wish in hindsight that I'd got the camel type internal/external one.... mine looks a bit like an accident of a scaffhold yard and an A team production sometimes.

Thanks for all of the responses, I only want an internal cage as I want to just cover the what if it rolls moment. It is not a license to be an idiot but just to stop the level to the door tops crush zone!
I also think the resale of a defender already has a limited market but with a full internal / external cage this then limits it more in my opinion that is. Yes the cost of a cage if far less than the fitting and that seems to change vastly on who you talk to. 2k and little change seems too much to me and not that justified! Anyone who know of a good place to get it done and hopefully a def2 sponsor then please let me know. My only experience is that of the MOD hoops. I think I may even have one kicking around but not what I need in a new 110! I will see what P&P say about supply and fitting but they look more like competition FIA cages to me? Thanks guys M 90 & Wolf 110 XS Previously owned SI SII SIIa SIII & Light weight (air portable) |

Go with Safety Devices. They are very helpful. I went the cheaper route and came across a SD cage on ebay and fitted it myself. Learned alot icluding why its good to pay someone who has done it before. Such as making sure the doors shut with door cards fitted whilst fitting the B hoop, rather than waiting till I had fitted it all and sealed everything !

The easiest option is to drive slower or look at widening the wheelbase to make it safer, an internal cage / roll bar is an extreme solution
If you are really that worried about rolling the defender you would be better off putting it in part exchange and getting a Discovery as airbags and much strong roof pillars provide much better protection for the occupants than a defender with a roll cage ever will ! I know not the answer you want but it is the pragmatic solution 2020 P300 HSE |
