Warwickshire warning
Just recieved this morning from Warwickshire Police:

Please be aware we have identified a trend of Landrover Defenders being stolen, so far mainly in the South of the County.

Since 1st October 5 vehicles have been stolen without keys from outside homes in Studley, Lapworth, Wellesbourne and Stratford with mainly older models being targetted.

Thieves appear able to bypass the security and ignition systems to enter and drive away the vehicles and we are asking owners to take simple extra precautions to protect their property.

If you have a garage please store your vehicle in it if possible. Use a asteering lock overnight. Consider fitting a tracking system.

Please report any suspicious activity to the Police on 101.

I woke up this morning and breather a sigh of relief to see the Defender still on the drive. It is the single biggest down side to owning a Defender - the threat of theft.

I am keeping a sharp eye out for any dodgey activity in the area.

Just had reports of a blue transit type van being suspicious around here. It pulled up at the end of a fellow Defender owners drive the other day and started checking out the Defender, when the owner spotted the man and went out to confront him the man jumped back into the transit and sped away.

Keep them peeled!

Alex incase you haven't already........
make sure you have a camera to hand to get a photo of person(s) and or vehicle me thinks and contact police on 101 so they can let officers keep an eye out. Also ask your neighbours who may not be aware of Defender thefts, to keep a look out for anything unusual.

I report all dodgy events to the local PCSO who is very good at being a two way link with reagrds to Defender thefts.

Good idea re the camera to take pics of the suspects/vehicles. May look at getting some decent CCTV up to cover the drive way and where the Defender is located. At least it may be a deterrent and also help to catch the scum if they domake off with it.
