Having a 110 Utility (although not as bad as a HT) there are some sizeable blind spots, mostly on the passenger side, and i was wondering if anyone has come up with an elegant solution?
I've tried the stick-on halfords hobbies but they were too small and flimsy really, fell off in the rain too... You see vans (transits in particular) with large rectangular convex mirrors built into the bottom third of the mirrors, it would be good if someone made a tidy equivalent for the defender! the mirror is more than tall enough to lose an inch or so at the bottom different approach, has anyone fitted convex glass? does it help? does it make it 'weird' having it all over the mirror? Ok I might give them another go, will have a look to find ones that better fit maybe, got some rectangular ones last time and I think the round ones may be better... Cheers, David

Why not change the standard mirrors for one of the larger ones available?

Don't fancy bigger mirrors, they're more than big enough!
The mirrors are great themselves, most cars have much smaller ones, it's just the having no rear windows that makes it difficult I'll try and find the best fitting & looking add-on ones I think Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

My take on the towing problem
Click image to enlarge I recon this should be standard fit, as for the n/s same mirror on top of the dash bottom left of the windscreen don't laugh I did when shmbo suggested the position but works really well. Those "fisheye" mirrors fitted to the Ford Vans are very good, I know I drove a Connect until December last year.
When I took delivery of the 110 I noticed that the wing mirrors were inadequate so I changed them for the larger heads and arms, they give an excellent rear view. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

I went for one of the round stick on types - been there 3 years - from Arctic to desert. I cleaned the glass first with some solvent to get the muck off.

I agree. Bought mine from Paddocks. http://www.paddockspares.com/pm752-door-mo...offer.html & have longer arms as well. The bigger heads should be provided as standard or at least made as an OE option. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. I tried the bigger mirrors that Paddocks sell but because they were bigger the wind kept tipping them back so all you get is a good view of the road surface beside you. I tried tightening them more to prevent this but over time it just rips the bottom out of the mirror casing. Certainly not recommended.
I'd like a wide view mirror thats maybe 40mm tall and the width of the mirror that you could stick to the bottom of the existing mirror. Mo The Land Rover 90 - Many are called, few are chosen. 50 Shades of Pennine Grey |
