Mine will do this if I dont use the glow plugs on a cold morning
If I do use them alls fine I would check the glow plug system 1st then get your cooling system pressure tested to see if head gasket is ok. Did you get a warrenty with it?? If so take it back! Could be just some condensation in the exhaust. If the car wasn't running for a while I would not be worried.
If the system is warm, it should not give white smoke on startup. To me it seems that's exactly your description. That's why driving the car regularly helps against corroding exhausts. My FL2 has done 160.000kms in 4 years and the exhausts still looks perfect. |

Hi Gywnne,
welcome to the forum! the white smoke is a common feature of the 2.4 puma engine, mine is the same age as yours and did the same when the air and engine are cold. I had a remap that keeps the EGR valve closed in the summer and have not seen it happen since - so maybe that has helped cure the smoke issue also ... (Pete at BAS may give his opinon here!) if you do a search on here you'll find a few posts about this issue - the forum is a mind of information! It wont hurt to drop a pot of redX injector cleaner or simmilar into the tank to clean the injectors every now and then just to keep it all tickety boo! I, personally thinks it happens when there is a significant change in temperature overnight. Mine did it when the weather changed recently with air temperature dropping close to 0c overnight from 6-8c the day before. I think the ECU is still working on the old fuelling map from the day before. Just my thoughts. LANDYWATCH
