FYI it IS possible to replace wipers without removing the wheel!
You have to turn on the rear wiper and kill the ignition to leave it sat pointing upwards then there is space EDIT: & your defender looks brilliant as always! Seen a couple in that colour around - you started a trend! Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

I tried doing it with the arm pointing up but it made no difference, I just didn't have enough space to take the blade off. :/
I saw a mint 61 plate vehicle very similar to mine but with standard rims and no aircon in the nearby town! I was in the lorry at the time and thought mine had been half-inched! 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Has anyone else had this issue with their 110?
I noticed today a trickle of diesel down the side of the rear wing below the fuel filler - further investigation reveals that the pipe going to the tank is somehow twisted and I don't think the filler is sealing properly. I have taken a photo which I hope explains. Click image to enlarge Any ideas anyone? The last thing I want is to be trailing diesel everywhere. Could this be a waranteeable issue? I know it may be a long shot but what about as it has been frosty in the mornings, might be a little condensation allowing splashed diesel within the cap to migrate and give the above effect?

Ah, I think you may have misunderstood my post. If you look in the photo there is a gap between the outer rubber seal and the inner part going down into the tank. When the cap is on it looks twisted round towards the front, the inner part of the pipe is sticking through the outer rubber bit...does that make sense? 2011 110 USW

Looks really good!
Think I may have mentioned before that the button head bolts into the wing seem to rust really quickly with these RAIs - I've replaced mine with stainless now (I can try to remember the size if that helps). The rest of it is still good as new after several months of use. Hope the screen surround drilling wasn't too scary... |

Yes it was a bit nerve-wracking drilling the screen. Although I think the RAI looks good I am not convinced at all that it is a good system. The main section is fine, and bolts to the brackets which in turn bolt to the screen. They allow enough flex to allow the thing to move. The top mushroom however is an utterly rubbish design. Basically you fit a rubber ring around the top of the main pipe, then use a sprung ring to compress the bottom of the mushroom onto the rubber ring. Mine flew off this morning on my drive to work! Okay, so maybe I didn't do it up tight enough, I managed to recover it and refitted it tonight when I got home. I tried to push it off and it wouldn't move, but you have to ask just how difficult would it have been to have a long bolt going through to hold it on?
Also, the bolts supplied to go through the windscreen were far too long, I had to go buy shorter ones. Perhaps earlier screens are different but mine is essentially a triangular section, meaning you can't get good access to the inside of the screen to tighten the nuts up... I spent the rest of the weekend with a friend wrestling with the gearbox on my IIA, struggling to get it back in. It is now in, and the props etc are on but we have big problems with the handbrake relay, and I still need to reassemble the whole cab interior. To be fair I am not feeling very well predisposed towards Landrovers at the moment, and am considering selling the 110... 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Sounds like you've had a frustrating weekend, but don't sell it! Yours is a proper Defender!
Now you mention it I do remember swapping the mushroom top clamp bolt for another one (stainless) that I had to hand. You're right, the standard one seems to be the wrong length. I'd forgotten faffing about with that one. Can't comment on the screen frame bolts as I fitted mine to the roof rack stay instead. Seems pretty secure once the top is clamped up right - I've been down some very tight and scratchy green lanes and it has remained in place on mine despite branches trying to rip it off... |

Tonight I refitted the mushroom top, after straightening it all out as best I could, and then tightened the O clamp up as tight as I could get it, whilst holding the rubber ring up and the clamp and mushroom down. I think I worked out why these were only Ł60...I have tried to push/pull/shove the top off and it isn't budging now, so hopefully it will stay put.
If I manage to scrape a few pennies together (at the mo the two series trucks are costing me a bomb) I would quite like some Wolf style rear bumpers I think... 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Took the truck down to Hadley Green for a warranty inspection (hence why I have an Evoque on my driveway, see pics in other thread). Chris showed me the inventory of what needs to be done, the price made me nearly jump out of my seat, thankfully it won't cost me...but goes to show how expensive they are to sort, and mine is probably one of the better ones. 2011 110 USW

Got it back from HG today, clutch no longer creaks (yey - it was *really* annoying) dash lamps fixed and new drivers door seal fitted.
The bodywork stuff is awaiting approval from Land Rover so if all goes well it should be going in for two weeks worth of work sometime in June I think. They have to take the roof off to sort out the water leaks into the cab. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

On Thursday the 110 passed it's first ever MOT without so much as an advisory. So far as I know nothing needed doing. Extended warranty has been sorted out too. 2011 110 USW
