That is approx 6" higher than standard.
We have a variety of cubby boxes available on our website including padded lid ones but none are that high, I presume your seats are lifted ? I would suggest the best way to acheive that extra height is to place blocks underneath a cubby. Various options are available from using blocks underneath which will lift a cubby box about 25mm.
Safari Equipe do two different heights of padding on top of their cubby box. If you need to lift cubby box even higher consider something like a GMB electrical box which can lift the cubby box 100 or 140mm depending on model chosen. Another option is the Nakatanenga security box which will raise the cubby box about 130mm Another probably more expensive option is to see a sheet metal fabricator and have one specially made to your design. Mobile Storage Systems do a good higher cubby box - I've always used them.
Another option is an under cubby storage area / safe which lifts the standard one up to a better height. John

Agree with John, his looks great.
I purchased the Front Runner version which is at a good price. drops straight in and lifts the cubby box by 50mm. i left the spacers under the box on to get the height. Now can rest my arm and is almost level with the gearstick. Great on long drives and gives hidden storage locked away.

I use nylon spacers on all my conversions now mainly to allow air flow for the amp underneath buts its great to raise the box up to act as a arm rest, combined with the two inch padding on top of my cubby box its lovely in my 90

Some great suggestions so far, never thought about getting a better quantity than standard box and raising it up and using the extra pace underneath.
Will have a good look at the options that have been pointed out to me and decide which is the most comfy option to go with the puma leather seats that I've just got hold of |

I was planning to simply make a tailored cushion to sit on the top of my cubby box. I then have the option to use it or have extra room when flaying arms are needed {!}. In my DC I made a simple underbox which fits between the cubby and the seat base raising the cubby by about 3" at the front and 4" at the rear, primarily to accomodate a sub. It does make the cubby a much more comfortable height. The cubby is also moved backwards on the underbox to allow access to the gear levers and to prevent the gear levers hitting my coffee mug.
The underbox is made from MDF and wood and cevered in black vinyl to match the cubby, and few people actually even notice it is there. |

I fitted an undercubby box, took the rails off under the cubby and had a retrim. 6ft tall and it's the perfect place for 'elbow resting.'
