Dash removal.
Hello, hoping some of you gurus can help here. I want to add a second windscreen washer using the alternative wiper mounting points, (thread read on here). I also want to run some cables from the cab to the engine compartment, can anyone point me to "large oval grommet" also mentioned on here. If I remove the centre dash or just the radio will this give me access to the rear of the bulkhead or have I more work to do? Thanks in advance. JohnnyB0.

I think to get to those locations you will probably need to move the whole dash out.
Not done it myself but wouldn't be too bad I'd have thought, just time consuming.
Start with the centre dash and clock binicle, the latter I'd disconnect the battery to be safe.
From there it's the passenger grab handle fixings and all the rest around the extremities. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Look engine bay, on either side of the centre on the bulkhead there are 2 large (bar of soap sized) rubber grommets with 4 smaller ones surrounding each.

Take your pick of whichever side and cut out one of the smaller grommets or use the large on if you need, and poke a straightened out coat hanger though towards the centre of the dash

Remove the bit of the centre dash with the clock, radio, elec window switches on ( undo (2?) screws and carefully pull away at the edges from bottom to top with a large flathead screwdriver)

With a torch you should be able to find the end of your coat hanger.

You can then pull through any cables by taping to end of coat hanger and pulling back through the grommet Cheers, David

The Puma dash is actually much easier to remove than most. It takes about an hour to remove completely and get tot he sort of condition as AndrewS's "J-Lo" was in the photo above.

Doing so also provides a good opportunity to tidy up the wiring under tha dash, armour the 10AS unit to prevent tampering, and put the vehicle together properly afterwards. You also tend to find interesting odds and ends (pens, pencils, screwdriver bits, even earrings) inside the dash, especially on pre-owned vehicles.

That looks worse than it actually is.

An alternative option for a cable route is quite simple. Remove the drivers dash speaker you will the get easy access to the Bulk Head. Drill a hole in the bulkhead. I usually use a cone step bit and drill out a 25mmØ hole. You can then pick up rubber grommets to suit from your local motor factor.

Oh yea don't forget to paint the exposed edges with a galv paint Thumbs Up

Andrew, thanks for that. I think the photo of the entire dash removed has just talked me out of going that far. I use the landy daily for work and that looks a bit too much in terms of time and effort. TBH, I don't have the cahonies for that Laughing However, the speaker route is perfectly doable and within my comfort zone. Bow down cheers.

I've always used the route I posted above, but either the speaker route or my route should be well within your ability (and courage!)

just depends where to and from you want to run cables..

and in all this stuff remember that a straightened out coat hanger and electrical tape are your friends! Cheers, David

Are there any gotchas involved in getting the dash back on?

I peeled the near side away while looking for leaks the other day but held back from taking the whole thing off, thinking it might not be as straightforward as all that ... 2009 110 XS Station Wagon
