It sounds like there's a story there. Did you park on the beach?

you'll be taking on a hell of a job with the wiring loom let alone the mechanical work, no doubt it's been written off by the insurance co 2.4 90 XS

I don't think I have experience with sea water but my TD5 has been flooded in browninsh water.
The main ecu was corroded. Everything near there too. Luckely I did n't have ABS and other ecu's there. My alarm ecu is now also replaced. It was working sometimes and sometimes not. It still had water inside and was corroded too. Wiring: All cables are black if you strip them so that's not very good. I replaced the engine loom as it was "protected" was engine oil. It is running fine on the moment. Knock wood. The rest just give it a good wash and make sure you spray plenty off water everywhere and then check for rust. If it's cheap why not try it. It could be a lot off work but if it doesn't work you could strip it and sell the parts with a profit. While not 100% relevant (please don't tell me off discocuzzy ) I have salvaged a number of outboard engines that have been submerged after falling off the back of boats.
It's bad news though I'm afraid. Salt water is evil and the engine needed to be submerged in fresh water overnight to halt the corrosive processes unless you can strip it immediatley. i guess that will be a bit more difficult for you!! The engines then needed to be completely stripped and rebuilt. Wiring should last, but not for long so it's best to replace it if you can. Certainly any electronics will be dead. Know someone near here in Preesall who specialises in vehicles that have been submerged. He has been buying insurance cars bringing them back to life and selling them on.
