I always ask the winning bidder if they want to pay for the item outside of eBay because eBays charges are 1 a lot and 2 sometimes unclear, well to my simple mind anyway 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

EBay fees!
Insertion fees first typically 20-40p per item Final valuation fees are typically 10% per item Paypal fees typically 3%. Your invoice looks correct. Please note that eBay owns PayPal so they get that £30 as well. Please note that eBay does not charge fees on postage and packaging but 'encourages' sellers to offer 'free' postage and packing. Now p & p is included in the price, guess what? Yes eBay gets 10% of that part of the total price as well! Brendan |

I suspected as much.
I am sure that if I had offered my howling moon 1.4 tourer with changing room on here for £780 someone would have bitten my hand off! Oh well, live and learn I suppose James |

Gumtree is good! I advertised something on ebay for about 3 weeks with loads of interest and no one paid just pestering asking questions then backed out. Cost me £10 in fees for advertising for nothing. Put up an urgent add on gumtree for £2 contacted and sold in cash next day. It's free even if you want a regular ad put up. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I concur. Looks correct to me too. eBay have it sewn up good and tight, but they are a very useful tool to get rid of unwanted junk lying about the place and I dread to think how many people log on to the site every day...
Think about it this way, if you were to sell your items at an auction house in your local town they will charge you between 10% and 25% of the final auction price. I have not used any of these sites before but it goes to show you are not alone in thinking eBay are charging too much... http://auctionsitenews.com/alternatives-to-ebay/ |

it is even worse now as you sell something on ebay & the buyer does not like it for what ever reason paypal / ebay will give a full refund & take the money back out of your account & then you have to argue as per advert & in my case I lost the postage sending it to the guy & got the item back not as it was sent - it had tried to be fitted obviously did not fit & buyer then said not as described despite it being exactly as described for the vehicle it came off - end result lost £12 postage & got back something I'm now not happy to sell so ended up giving it a way.
& we have 100% good feedback as have used ebay for years to buy & sell bits - not as good as it was but better protection for buyers so I tend to use it to buy rather than sell 2020 P300 HSE |
