not sure if the ford boxes run undercut gears but most modern boxes do ... the idea is the small synco teeth on each gear (the ones that lock in main gear to syncro hub not the main teeth) are cut narrower at back of tooth this helps hold the gears lock together and not jump out of gear .. if your a bit quick lifting off clutch then it can feel like the gear/ lever is being pulled slightly ..
undercutting does 3 things makes gear change smoother feel as they done have to run heavy springs in syncro hubs to hold gears together. and less likely to jump out of gear when syncro teeth get bit worn and race boxes have much more undercut gears for panic quick changes or clutchless gear changes try slowing down coming off clutch pedal when changing gear see if that helps ( not slowing car down you coming off pedal slower) |
