What is the best place to wire a Ignition live feed power source, when wiring in Lazerlamps. I ask this as i am not sure about sending a wire all the way through the bulkhead and into the ignition barrel, because if that short circuits then i have no car to start!!
I need this for the RS4 lamps to enable DRL's |

But what is the draw on a Alternator and would it give me permanent power to DRL's when the lights aren't activated?

Sorry shouldn't have mentioned the Alternator that is best left alone. If you have DRL's you want the power direct from the battery with a relay to switch on when ignition is on. Similar to spot lights wiring but instead of taking the trigger feed from the main beam wire and ignition switched live instead. The lighter feed is capable of this. No Guts, No Glory.

Ok, I will try that. I am guessing that is the closest thing for me to connect to and there isn't anything in the engine bay

Not that I can think of except sidelights and you don't really want that. Use a lowish rated fuse in-line from your feed from the lighter socket to protect it as it doesn't have any load on that. On the power feed just choose appropriate cable gauge. And fuse again in-line. All you should need is a standard Normally open 4 pin relay. Keep things simple. No Guts, No Glory.

There's an ignition-switched live to the Denso Alternator's 3-way connector (C0226). This is on a Green/Yellow wire on 1999-2001 TD5s, and a White/Green wire on 2002-2006 TD5s. This ignition-switched live can be intercepted at a number of places in the engine bay - 2002 Wiring Click image to enlarge C0448/C0162 - Main harness to engine harness junction C0226 - Alternator C0195 - Speed transducer 1999 wiring is a little different, but the Green/Yellow wire can still be intercepted at all the above locations. . So do you see it ok as to fit the ignition live feed anywhere along this wire feed? I don't want to go and blow anything too big up!!

This ignition switched supply is protected by a 10A fuse.
As long as you're only using it to trigger a relay to switch the Lazerlamp's supply from a heavier source e.g. - battery, starter, alternator output wire, it will be fine. . Paul. 1989 Arles Blue 2.5TD 110 Hardtop 1999 Epsom Green Discovery II 4.0 V8i 'XS' |

Perhaps i would be better off using the lighter or radio power lead and adding a switch so that i don't blind people every time i flash them with a signal.
