Personally i've always used the fuel pump - i'm sure there is a better place but seemed the easiest to me.
it'll still start and run but will stall once residual fuel in the lines/filter has been used (and of course then need priming to restart) |

In the Defender "Puma", the fuel suction pump is embedded into the engine and is operated by the rotation of the motor.
It's not electrical like the previous Defender version. What do you think about intercepting the cable that connect the start-switch to the start-engine-relay and put a switch in the middle. In this manner, when the added switch is open, the "crank" signal will not reach the relay and the engine will not start. |

It wouldn't have worked on TD5 too, I forgot that I had removed fuel pump fuse and still managed to start and drive off in my Td5 90. It went into limp mode but still ran ok, just significantly down on power.  |

MD5 I have one of the trackers j33per has and would like to use this as a way of stopping the vehicle remotely if the scroats get their mitts on it, would this work? Or is it, as I suspect only going to stop it starting? Can you tell me where the relay / wiring is as a remote switch is probably a good idea anyway. I think that the GPS tracker suggested by j33per could be useful. Thanks for pointing this out. I will fit one of them.
About how to remotely turn off the engine, I think that some engine sensor can be bypassed/excluded but I have not developed this idea because for safety reason I prefer to install something that can only prevent engine starting. What do you think about bypassing the crank signal that goes from starting switch to starting relay R102 located in the vane under the seat ? |

Yes, I had the same thoughts about stopping the vehicle remotely and the safety of such a system but the tracker will only stop the vehicle if it is going slower than 20km/hr.
