touch screen slave screen for toughbook
hello all,

i have recently decided that my toughbook is of minimal use to me and today was considering selling it. but the thought then occurred to me that i could integrate it into my truck and use it as a navigation system / entertainment system.

i have located a rather affordable mount that will accept my CF-19 that i would like to fix out of view under my cubby box, ill invent a sliding mechanism to access it. but wanting a slave screen on the top of the dash that i could use to control the machine from for use of things like the navigation.

im sure this isn't a difficult task to achieve although i am open to suggestions on alternatives. it just seems to me that i already have the hardware and i would like to put it to use as i like my little tough book.

cheers

Just get any PC screen, and you can buy a touch screen overlay that sticks on (double sided tape all the way around the edges), either serial or USB into your toughbook, then install the drivers and away you go (obviously plug the VGA into the toughbook and use alt F4 or F5 to select external screen)

I've got a touch screen equipped 19" screen here if you want to try. there's no enclosure for it though, you'd have to make one up... the screen was removed from one of the jukeboxes at work

Yeah, the hardest bit is making them look neat (unless you buy a complete screen and enclosure like they do on linITX)

That's where my 10" screen came from. great but a bit costly.

But the actual making it work is easy.

Quick google shows, complete 10" for £210

a few on this ebay page, including a dash mounted freelander one
