Halfords Speaker Range
Can anyone recommend a pair of speakers from Halfords as a direct better replacement for the front speakers in the 2.4 XS (not sure how different other models are)

Or are all Halfords speakers rubbish ?

Over priced and limited selection, 10cm is the size you want. (For easy installation anyway)
Have a look at these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KENWOOD-KFC-S109...5d3c4b08c6
Or these
http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/kfc-e1065-speakers
I have the more expensive ones but the later model, there are Pioneer iirc that are a tad more powerful for the size but depending on HU you've chosen you really want the same brands on most things if you can. No Guts, No Glory.

I went to a locally recognised audio specialist who recommended Kenwood to me for HU and speakers and an Alpine active sub.

I listen to most genre of music and I am very please with the quality and general output.

I had 2 speakers blow [after a slight shorting issue Whistle] and replaced them with the speakers recommended by Customsteve in the ICE thread - thanks

Let's just say I was listening to some nice music and some twit decided to re-route a couple of wires with a coat hanger up the back of the bukhead and ......... Shocked no more music at the front, blown fuse and crackly speaker afterwards. Banging Head so I needed to buy 2 new ones.

I've undertaken a lot of wiring on vehicles and I think that was the first time a fuse was blown - live and learn. BM52

Always best to remove the fuse, trouble is a lot of us are guilty on that one! And to lazy to disconnect the battery even. Rolling with laughter
On the bright side at least you didn't short and Amp cable! Otherwise you'd very quickly end up doing a bit of welding! Surprised No Guts, No Glory.

Yes, 10cm the size is measured on them by the mounting hole diameter not the speaker outer diameter. Thumbs Up
If you want more bass as standard I would say these: http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/kfc-e1065-speakers
They go down to a lower frequency to the ones I have hence a bit more bass, mine are slightly higher frequency but I have the Sub to make up for it. The ones above should be a good all rounder.
Funny enough Kenwood seem to have reduced their range a little for the 10cm speaker range, unless it's just stock availability on Just Kenwood. They give you free delivery and 1year warranty. No Guts, No Glory.

It's a bit tight for a 13cm (a lot more modification to fit anyway) but a 10cm for depth should be okay what ever depth they are. It's the OS that is the tighter area.
Cannot give you any guarantees though I'm afraid but should be okay.
Closest runner for me personally I'd choose bar what I currently have is these:
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...yId_265869
Love the looks of them too, drool* Laughing
What ever you get keep the recipt and just place it in position in the hole if it's fine both sides your good to go. If not just take back for a swap or refund.
Thumbs Up
I would stick to premium brands though. No Guts, No Glory.

5" Focal polly glass but I did do some butchering for them to fit Whistle Not much help if you just want plug and play. CHRISD90 has just fitted these http://www.focal.com/en/universal/389-isn-100.html See his thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic24606.html.
